Daniel - The Remnant is my first commercial mod (also known as a verified creation) for Fallout 4, and marks the first time I created a player follower. Until this point I had generally written stories with casts of characters, but I wanted to challenge myself to create a deep, complex individual that the player would want to spend time with and learn more about.

This project saw me create a new follower framework system to allow the player to have Daniel travel with them alongside existing Fallout 4 followers. I also sifted through all recorded dialogue for the existing Fallout companions in order to use them to create conversations they could have with Daniel.

I also wrote and implemented an overarching quest for Daniel that would unfold the longer the player got to know Daniel - handled by a trust system I had created - culminating in a high-stakes delve into a custom dungeon co-created by myself and a level designer.

Working with Daniel’s voice actor, Daniel has over 3000 lines of dialogue - and is noted as being one of the most responsive followers made for the game; having multiple thoughts to share about every Fallout 4 quest, various locations, player choices and more.

Daniel has been received overwhelmingly positively by the community and I have been creating additional content for him over time.
