MindsEye is an ambitious AAA story-driven third-person action game, and is the project I worked on during my time at Build A Rocket Boy, having transitioned from Associate Gameplay Scripter to Technical Designer to Senior Technical Designer.
As part of my role as a scripter and Technical Designer, my day to day involved implementing and iterating on new missions, systems and encounters as requested by game direction. I also attended regular playsessions with the studio executive team to evaluate my owned missions and gather feedback to action.
I was also responsible for mentoring various new hires to the team, assisting in their onboarding and allocating them initial tasks to bring them up to speed while also being available to assist in their learning.
After transitioning to Senior Technical Designer, I took on additional management responsibilities, managing a small team of 4 Technical Designers - running playsessions, hosting 1-on-1s and general catchups to ensure they were all empowered to do the best they could under challenging circumstances.
I also worked closely with the design director in strike-teams to address feedback regarding combat encounters in a timely fashion.
I also ensured the team’s documentation was up to date, performing regular passes on all of the MindsEye Technical Design team documents to ensure they were in a consistent format, and easily accessible from convenient landing pages.
